When you hear the words buffalo cauliflower, your first thought may be how can buffalo cauliflower even compare to buffalo chicken?

Buffalo chicken is a classic American flavor that can be adjusted based on a person’s taste buds. Do you like it mild, hot, or 5-alarm? Some people may bypass buffalo sauce and go for a dry rub but, buffalo cauliflower is becoming a popular favorite that challenges our favorite wings.

For those of you who may be skeptical, I say give it chance. You may even question whether or not that was really cauliflower (you just ate). It’s that delicious!

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

Amount varies depending on serving size:

  • 1 head of fresh or frozen cauliflower
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ tsp of pepper
  • ¾ tsp of onion powder
  • 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp chives or chopped green onions
  • ½ cup of Buffalo sauce (of your choice)
  • Honey (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Whisk egg
  • Add flour, pepper, egg and onion powder into a bowl
  • Pour water into the bowl until it’s the consistency of pancake mix (add honey)
  • Dip cauliflower in the batter
  • Then dip cauliflower in the bread crumbs
  • Bake in the pan for 30 to 40 minutes depending on oven (put aluminum foil on pan)
  • Take the cauliflower out of the oven and lather it in buffalo sauce
