ACA Deadline Extention
The federal government has extended the enrollment deadline for January 2017 coverage from December 15 to December 19. If you enroll in a health insurance plan through HealthCare.gov or the Marketplace Call Center (1-800-318-2596 – open 24/7) by December 19, your coverage will start January 1, 2017.
To allow time to process your enrollment it is important to choose a plan and pay quickly.
In September we shared why we made the decision to continue providing 2017 Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans on the Health Insurance Marketplace. Many insurers, including BCBSNC, have seen substantial financial losses with these plans. We are committed to making the ACA work in North Carolina even though taking on the customers from United and Aetna’s exit would put a strain on our resources. The extended enrollment deadline adds another challenge reducing our time to process applications and mail ID cards before coverage begins.
