Thousands of North Carolinians have chosen to renew their health coverage under the Affordable Care Act without updating their subsidy information. If that describes you, time is running out to see if you’re getting the biggest subsidy possible to help offset the cost of coverage.

We’re letting ACA customers know about the Feb. 15 deadline for enrolling in 2015 coverage on the exchange. Direct mail and email communications went out last week to our customers who didn’t actively make any changes when they renewed.

The message is simple: You can still update your information and maybe wind up with a bigger ACA subsidy. But that opportunity runs out on Sunday, Feb. 15.

To do so, take these four steps:

  1. Visit BlueConnectNC.com to log in to your account.
  2. Click on Account in the blue bar at the top of the page.
  3. Go to Manage Your Policy.
  4. Click on Continue to update your information.

Of course, actual subsidy amounts — and eligibility for a subsidy in the first place — will be determined by the federal government.

And what if your income has gone up since last year’s ACA enrollment? Well, the IRS will compare what’s on your tax return to what you reported when applying for health coverage — and you could end up having to pay the difference. So it’s wise to provide your updated information.
