Anthem Breach Update: Credit, Identity Monitoring Available

Important update as of 2/24/2014.
This is an update on the Anthem data breach, for complete information, visit AnthemFacts.com
BCBSNC continues to work closely with Anthem around the clock to determine who may be impacted from the data breach announced last week at Anthem. While the breach did not affect BCBSNC’s systems, any Blue Cross Blue Shield plan customer who lives in or who has received health care in an Anthem service area – which includes 14 states – since 2004 may have been affected.
Anthem will notify consumers affected by the breach via U.S. Postal Service beginning later this month. This notification process could take up to several weeks, but in the meantime customers of Anthem or Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans concerned that they may be affected can sign up for free credit monitoring and identity protection for up to two years beginning today, Feb. 13
Anthem customers who have opted in to receiving communications may receive an e-mail next week directing them to sign up for these services. This email will not ask for personal information and will not contain a link to any websites other than AnthemFacts.com.
